Tangled: Before Ever After is a fun animated musical movie from 2017. It was made by Disney Television Animation and first shown on Disney Channel. This film acts as a bridge between the original Tangled movie and the short film Tangled Ever After. It also serves as the very first episode of the TV series Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure.

The movie was directed by Tom Caulfield and Stephen Sandoval. It tells the story of Rapunzel as she tries to get used to being a princess. A big mystery in the film is how her long, magical golden hair suddenly grows back!

Tangled: Before Ever After first aired on March 10, 2017. It includes two new songs, "Life After Happily Ever After" and "Wind in My Hair." These songs were created by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, who also wrote the songs for the first Tangled movie. "Wind in My Hair" even became the main theme song for the Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure TV show.

Many of the original voice actors returned for this movie. Mandy Moore voices Rapunzel, and Zachary Levi is the voice of Eugene Fitzherbert. M.C. Gainey also came back as the Captain of the Guard. This film was a special event because it was the first Disney Channel Original Movie based on a Walt Disney Animation Studios film.

Rapunzel's New Adventure: The Story of Tangled Before Ever After

This movie begins six months after the events of the original Tangled film. Rapunzel is getting ready to become the official Princess of Corona. But before her big coronation day, she and Eugene Fitzherbert are having an adventure. They are racing through the forest on their horses, Maximus and Fidella, with the Royal Guards chasing them.

Life as a Princess: Adjusting to Royal Rules

Rapunzel reaches the border wall first and climbs to the top. From there, she sees an amazing view of the land beyond the kingdom. Soon, the guards catch up and bring them back to the castle. Rapunzel's friend, Cassandra, is waiting for her. Cassandra's job is to help Rapunzel get used to her new life as a princess.

Rapunzel is happy to be with her parents again, but she finds it hard to adjust. There are so many responsibilities that come with being a princess. Her father, King Frederic, is very worried about losing her again. Because of this, he doesn't want her to explore the world outside the castle.

A Big Question: Eugene's Proposal

On the night before her coronation, Eugene gathers his courage and asks Rapunzel to marry him. Rapunzel is surprised and happy, but she doesn't feel ready to get married yet. Even though she loves him, she says no to his proposal.

Back in her room, Cassandra thinks Rapunzel needs a break. She offers to sneak Rapunzel out of the castle. They decide to go beyond Corona's security wall for some fun.

Mysterious Hair Returns: A Magical Surprise

Rapunzel and Cassandra sneak out and go into the woods. Cassandra takes Rapunzel to the spot where the magical healing flower used to be. Now, strange, unbreakable thorn-like rocks have grown there instead. As Rapunzel touches one of the rocks, magic strikes her!

Part of her hair starts to glow, and more of these mysterious rocks suddenly sprout from the ground. Rapunzel and Cassandra quickly run away, with a trail of growing rocks behind them. When they get out of the woods, Rapunzel's long, blonde hair has grown back! Neither of them knows why this happened.

Hiding the Secret: Unbreakable Hair

On the morning of her coronation, Rapunzel and Cassandra sneak back into the castle. They try to get rid of the hair, but they discover it's unbreakable, just like the thorns. Eugene sneaks into the room and sees the long hair. They all know that Rapunzel's parents cannot find out about it. To hide it, Rapunzel wears a very large wig.

While Rapunzel is having breakfast with her parents, some pirates are causing trouble in the kingdom. These pirates are working for a mysterious person named Lady Caine. They want to get caught on purpose so they can be taken to the castle dungeons.

Facing Danger: Lady Caine's Plan

During Rapunzel's coronation ceremony, Lady Caine appears. She had disguised herself as a visiting duchess. Lady Caine frees the prisoners from the dungeons. She wants revenge on King Frederic. She believes he wrongly imprisoned her father, who was just a petty thief, after Rapunzel was kidnapped.

King Frederic and the other royal guests are trapped in a cage. Rapunzel then reveals her long, golden hair! She uses it as a weapon to fight the criminals. Eugene and Cassandra help her, and together they defeat Lady Caine and her gang.

Rapunzel's Choice: Finding Her Own Path

Even though Rapunzel proved how brave and capable she is, King Frederic becomes even more worried about her safety. He learns that she snuck out of the castle. Because of this, he forbids her from leaving the castle again without his permission.

Rapunzel feels trapped once more by her father's decision. But Eugene comes to comfort her and makes her feel better. He apologizes for asking her to marry him so suddenly, and Rapunzel apologizes for her reaction. Eugene promises Rapunzel that he will take their relationship slowly.

After Eugene leaves, Rapunzel reads a message in a journal her mother gave her. This message inspires her to live her life to the fullest, no matter what challenges she faces. Later, a mysterious person finds the spot where the magical flower was. More of the strange rocks now cover the area.

Meet the Characters: Voice Cast of Tangled Before Ever After

You'll also see some animal characters who don't speak, like Rapunzel's pet chameleon Pascal. And there's Maximus, the brave horse who belongs to the head of the palace guard.
