Film and Television

Tangled (2010)

Rapunzel first appears in Tangled as a baby princess. She was born with special healing powers from a magical flower her mother used. A wicked old woman, Mother Gothel, stole baby Rapunzel. Gothel used Rapunzel's hair to stay young and beautiful.

Rapunzel grew up in a hidden tower. Every year, she saw thousands of floating lanterns released into the sky. She didn't know these lanterns were a way for her kingdom to remember their lost princess. As her eighteenth birthday neared, Rapunzel really wanted to leave the tower. She dreamed of seeing the lanterns up close.

She convinced a wanted thief named Flynn Rider to take her to see the lanterns. Mother Gothel soon found out about Rapunzel's adventure. She chased after them, even hiring other thieves to stop Flynn.

Rapunzel and Flynn finally reached the kingdom for the lantern festival. After the beautiful ceremony, Flynn was caught by his old partners and arrested. He was sentenced to death. Gothel took a heartbroken Rapunzel back to the tower.

Back in her room, Rapunzel suddenly remembered who she really was. She tried to stand up to Gothel. But Gothel wouldn't let her go and trapped her. When Flynn escaped and came to save Rapunzel, Gothel hurt him. Rapunzel promised to do anything to save Flynn. Gothel agreed, but before Rapunzel could heal him, Flynn cut her long hair. Her hair turned brown and lost all its magic. This caused Gothel to quickly turn to dust.

Flynn died in Rapunzel's arms. But Rapunzel's tears, filled with the flower's magic, brought him back to life. Flynn then took Rapunzel back to the palace. She was finally reunited with her real parents. At the end of the movie, Flynn, whose real name is Eugene Fitzherbert, asked Rapunzel to marry him.

Tangled: Ever After (2012)

This short film shows Rapunzel's wedding day to Eugene. The whole kingdom is excited. Rapunzel's animal friends, Pascal the chameleon and Maximus the horse, are part of the wedding. Maximus is carrying the wedding rings.

Just as Rapunzel walks down the aisle, Maximus sneezes. The rings fly off the pillow and roll out into the city streets! Pascal and Maximus sneak out of the chapel to get them back. They have a wild chase through the kingdom, facing many funny obstacles.

They finally get the rings back, but they crash into a tar factory. They return to the chapel covered in tar. Rapunzel and Eugene are surprised but still exchange rings and share a kiss. Maximus accidentally bumps the wedding cake, sending it rolling down the aisle.
