Rock Bottom Creek is a small stream, also called a tributary, in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It flows into Roaring Brook. The creek is about 3.2 miles (5.1 km) long. It flows through Jefferson Township and Roaring Brook Township. The area of land that drains into the creek is about 3.06 square miles (7.9 km2). Wild trout live and reproduce naturally in its waters.

Where Does Rock Bottom Creek Flow?

Rock Bottom Creek begins in a lake in Jefferson Township. It first flows south, then turns northwest and southwest. After a short distance, it turns west-northwest.

The creek then enters Roaring Brook Township. It flows next to Interstate 84 for a while. Later, it crosses Pennsylvania Route 435. Finally, Rock Bottom Creek joins Roaring Brook. This meeting point is about 9.84 miles (15.84 km) upstream from where Roaring Brook ends.

Land and Rocks Around the Creek

The land around Rock Bottom Creek has different heights. Near where the creek joins Roaring Brook, the land is about 1,306 feet (398 m) above sea level. Where the creek starts, the land is higher, between 1,720 and 1,740 feet (520 and 530 m) above sea level.

Two special places are near the creek. Rock Bottom Glen is in Roaring Brook Township. The Muni Bogs are in Jefferson Township.

Wild trout naturally live and reproduce in Rock Bottom Creek. They can be found from the very beginning of the creek all the way to its end. One small stream that flows into Rock Bottom Creek is known as a "High-Quality Coldwater Fishery." This means its water is very clean and cold, which is perfect for fish like trout. In the early 1900s, Rock Bottom Creek was also stocked with trout. This means people added trout to the creek to increase their numbers.
