Rockaway Beach is a small city in Missouri, located in Taney County. In 2020, about 829 people lived there. It sits right on the shore of the White River. This city is also part of the larger Branson area, which is known for its entertainment and tourism.

History of Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach began when a person bought land that was expected to become the edge of Lake Taneycomo. The city's name probably came from Rockaway Beach, New York. A post office has been open in Rockaway Beach since 1933.
Geography and Location
Rockaway Beach is found on the north side of Lake Taneycomo and the White River. The city of Forsyth is about three miles to the southeast. You can reach it by following Missouri Route 176.
The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 0.69 square miles (1.79 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 0.61 square miles (1.58 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.08 square miles (0.21 square kilometers), is water.

In 2010, a census showed that 841 people lived in Rockaway Beach. There were 365 households and 222 families. The city had about 1,378.7 people per square mile. There were 528 homes, with about 865.6 homes per square mile.
Most people in the city, 96.1%, were White. A small number were African American (0.7%), Native American (1.0%), or Pacific Islander (0.6%). About 2.0% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
About 23.3% of households had children under 18 living with them. Many households, 44.1%, were married couples. About 11.0% had a female head of household with no husband. About 5.8% had a male head of household with no wife. Nearly 39.2% of households were not families.
The average age in the city was 45.3 years. About 21% of residents were under 18. About 18.4% were 65 years old or older. The city had slightly more females (50.4%) than males (49.6%).
