Rowland's Castle is a village in Hampshire, England. It is about 3 miles (4.7 km) north of Havant. The village is close to the border of Hampshire and West Sussex.
The heart of the village is its green space. This green is shaped a bit like a lung. It is surrounded by roads and is about 250 yards (228 meters) long. The green is wider at one end and gets narrower at the other.
The village gets its name from an old castle. This castle was a type called a motte-and-bailey castle. Its remains are found south of Redhill Road, near the railway line.

History of Rowland's Castle
People have found proof that Romans made pottery and bricks here. This was easy because there was a lot of good clay. The castle was built sometime between 1066 and 1189. It was first written about in 1381 as "ROLOKECASTEL".
The castle was in good shape in the 1100s. King Henry II even spent time there for hunting. But by the 1400s, people stopped using it. The railway and quarrying damaged the site in the 1800s. Today, only earth mounds and small parts of walls remain.
