Royalton is a small city in the state of Minnesota, USA. It is located in two counties: Morrison and Benton. The city sits right next to the Platte River. In 2020, about 1,281 people lived there. Most of Royalton is in Morrison County. The part of Royalton in Benton County is also part of the larger St. Cloud area.

Royalton's History
Royalton was officially planned out in 1878. It got its name from a town called Royalton, Vermont. Many of the first people who settled here came from that Vermont town. Royalton became an official city in 1887.
Since 2010, Royalton has been part of the Green Step Cities program. This program helps cities become more environmentally friendly. Royalton was the first city building in Minnesota to put solar panels on its roof. These panels help power City Hall using energy from the sun.
Geography of Royalton
Royalton is in the southern part of Morrison County. It also stretches a little bit into the northwest corner of Benton County. The city is surrounded by Bellevue Township to the north, east, and west. To the south, it borders Langola Township.
U.S. Highway 10 is the main road that goes through Royalton. If you go north on Highway 10 for about 11 miles, you'll reach Little Falls. This is the main town for Morrison County. If you go southeast for about 19 miles, you'll get to Sauk Rapids.
The city covers about 2.01 square miles (5.20 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits. The Platte River flows through the eastern side of Royalton. It then travels about 5 miles south to join the big Mississippi River.

In 2010, there were 1,242 people living in Royalton. These people lived in 455 households, and 324 of these were families. The city had about 624 people per square mile. Most of the people living in Royalton (99%) were White.
About 43% of the households had children under 18 living with them. More than half (56.7%) were married couples. The average household had 2.70 people, and the average family had 3.18 people.
The average age of people in Royalton was 30.6 years old. About 31.6% of residents were under 18. About 9.4% were 65 years old or older. The number of males and females in the city was almost equal.
Education in Royalton
The Royalton school district has two main schools: one elementary school and one high school. Like other school districts in Minnesota, Royalton schools allow "open enrollment." This means students from other areas can choose to attend Royalton schools.
The high school's sports teams are called the Royals, and their mascot is a Lion. Royalton schools offer many sports and extra activities for students. The elementary school also has community education activities, including sports teams that play against other schools.
Royalton Elementary School is located near Holy Trinity Church and a Lutheran church. Students can attend religion classes during the school day, usually on Wednesdays. It's a moderately small school, with about 3-4 teachers for each grade and around 22 students per class.
The school also offers a program called "M.A.P." (My Afterschool Place). This program is for children who need a safe place to stay after school until their parents can pick them up.
Sports Achievements
The Royalton Football team has been very successful since coach Jamie Morford took over. They have won about 78% of their games. The Varsity girls' basketball team has also won several championships. They won the Prairie Conference Championship in 1998–99, 2017–18, and 2018–19. They also won the Central Minnesota Conference Championship in 2019–20.

The Blanchard Dam is located on the Mississippi River. It is about 4 miles northwest of Royalton. Dams like this help produce electricity.
