Rush Creek is a small rural area in Queensland, Australia. It is part of the City of Moreton Bay. In 2021, about 152 people lived there.

Where is Rush Creek?

Rush Creek is located in a rural part of Queensland. The North Pine River forms its southern border. This river is at the western end of Lake Samsonvale.

There is a small area called Forbes Creek in the south-east of Rush Creek. The main road, Brisbane–Woodford Road (also known as Dayboro Road), goes right through the area.

A Look at Rush Creek's History

Hay Cottage: A Historic Home

One important old building is Hay Cottage. It was built around 1870 by Ernest Goertz. Later, a family named Hay lived there.

In the 1970s, the land where the cottage stood was needed for the North Pine Dam. So, in 1989, the cottage was moved. It now stands in Dayboro and is used by an arts and crafts group.

Forbes Creek School

A school called Forbes Creek Provisional School opened in 1880. It later became Forbes Creek State School in 1909. This school taught children in the area for many years.

However, the school closed in 1960. Its old location is now near the shores of Lake Samsonvale.
