Salt Ash is a quiet, rural area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. It's part of the Port Stephens Council local government area. This suburb is located on the main road that connects Newcastle and Nelson Bay. Even though it's on a main road, much of Salt Ash remains undeveloped. This is partly because it's home to the Salt Ash Air Weapons Range, which is an important training area for pilots.

Salt Ash has a beautiful natural border to its south: Stockton Beach. For students in the area, there's a co-ed government primary school called Salt Ash Public School, located on Salt Ash Avenue.
