Samuil Markovich Blekhman (Russian: Самуи́л Ма́ркович Бле́хман; May 15, 1918 – July 26, 1982) was a well-known stamp collector from the Soviet Union. People who collect stamps are also called "philatelists." He wrote many important books and articles about stamps and stamp collecting. Samuil Blekhman was born in Moscow, Russia, and lived there for most of his life. He trained and worked as an engineer.
Blekhman's work mainly focused on the history of mail and postage stamps from places like Tuva, Mongolia, Russia, and the Soviet Union. He also studied airmail stamps. He took part in big stamp exhibitions both in his country and around the world. He won many top awards for his work.
One of his most important projects was a deep study of Tuva stamps. He helped create a detailed list, or "catalog," of these stamps. This work won a major award at a big stamp show called "PRAGA 1962" in Prague. After Blekhman passed away, his work on Tuva stamps was translated and published in English.
