San Juan Bautista is a city in Paraguay. It is the main city, or capital, of the Misiones Department. Many people think of it as the birthplace of the religious mission culture in the area. It is also where the main church office, called the Diocese, is located.

This city was founded during the time when Carlos Antonio López was the leader of Paraguay. It was officially recognized as a small town in 1893. Later, in 1945, it was chosen to be the capital city of the Misiones Department.
