Santaquin is a city in the state of Utah, USA. It is located in both Utah County and Juab County. Santaquin is part of the larger Provo–Orem metropolitan area, which is a group of cities and towns that are connected. In 2020, about 13,725 people lived there.

Where is Santaquin?
Santaquin is in southern Utah County. A small part of the city also reaches into Juab County. It is southeast of Utah Lake. The city is next to Genola and Spring Lake.
Major roads pass through Santaquin. Interstate 15 goes through the city. You can get on or off I-15 at Exits 242 and 244. I-15 goes north to Provo (about 21 miles away). It goes south to Nephi (about 19 miles away). U.S. Route 6 is also known as Main Street in Santaquin. It leads west to Silver City. Utah State Route 198 goes north from I-15 to Payson.
The city covers about 10.44 square miles (27.05 square kilometers) of land. Only a very small part of this area is water.

Santaquin has a type of weather called a humid continental climate. This means it has big changes in temperature during the year. Summers are hot, and winters are cold. Sometimes, winters can be very cold.
A Look at Santaquin's Past
Santaquin was one of the first places settled along the Salt Lake Road. People started living here in late 1851. The city was first called Summit City. This name came from its location near the top of a hill between Utah Valley and Juab Valley. The first settlers were pioneers who were also helping to settle Payson, a city to the north.
In 1856, the city's name was changed to "Santaquin." This new name honored the son of Guffich, a local Ute chief. Chief Guffich was friendly with the settlers. Santaquin became an official town in the 1890s. It then became a city on January 4, 1932.

Orchard Days Celebration
Orchard Days is a special week-long celebration in Santaquin. It happens in late July and early August. There are many fun activities for families. These include a parade, a rodeo, a carnival, and a scavenger hunt.
