Sempronius is a small town located in Cayuga County, New York, United States. In 2010, about 895 people lived there. The town was named after a famous Roman leader by Robert Harpur. He was a clerk who loved classics, which are old stories and ideas. Sempronius is in the southeastern part of Cayuga County, southeast of the city of Auburn.

History of Sempronius
Sempronius was once part of the Central New York Military Tract. This was a large area of land set aside after the American Revolutionary War. It was used to pay soldiers who fought in the war.
The first person to settle in Sempronius arrived around 1793. The town officially started in 1799. It was formed by separating from another town called Scipio. Over time, parts of Sempronius were used to create new towns. These included Marcellus in 1804, and Moravia and Niles in 1833.
A notable person born in Sempronius was John Wood. He was born on December 20, 1798. He later became the 12th Governor of Illinois, serving from 1860 to 1861.
Geography and Location
Sempronius covers a total area of about 77 square kilometers (29.7 square miles). Most of this area, about 76 square kilometers (29.3 square miles), is land. The rest, about 1 square kilometer (0.4 square miles), is water.
The northern part of Sempronius borders the southern end of Skaneateles Lake. This lake is one of New York's beautiful Finger Lakes. The eastern side of the town also borders Onondaga County and Cortland County.
New York State Route 41A is a main road that runs north and south through the town.
Population and People
The population of Sempronius has changed over the years. In 2000, there were 893 people living in the town. By 2010, the population was 895. The estimated population in 2016 was 933.
Most people in Sempronius are White. A small number of residents identify as African American, Native American, Asian, or Pacific Islander. Some people also identify as Hispanic or Latino.
In 2000, about 41.5% of households had children under 18 living with them. Most households were married couples living together. The average household had about 2.87 people.

Communities and Places in Sempronius
Sempronius is home to several small communities and interesting places:
- Dresserville – This is a small village in the southern part of the town. It's named after Artemas Dresser, who was the first permanent settler and owned mills there.
- Dresserville Creek – A stream that flows out of the western side of the town. It passes by Morse Hill.
- Fall Creek – A stream that flows south near the eastern town line. It eventually reaches the southern end of Cayuga Lake in Ithaca.
- Glen Haven – A village on the southwestern shore of Skaneateles Lake. In the 1800s, it was known for "water cure" resorts.
- Hardy Corners – A location on NY Route 41A in the middle of the town.
- Mill Brook – A stream that flows past the main Sempronius village. It is the main stream that feeds into Dresserville Creek.
- Morse Hill – A small village in the western part of the town, west of Sempronius village.
- Murphy Corners – A location north of the Sempronius village.
- Sayles Corners – A village in the northwestern part of the town.
- Sempronius – This is the main village within the town, located on NY-41A.
- Wards Corners – A location found between the Sempronius village and Dresserville.
