Servion is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is part of the Lavaux-Oron area. On January 1, 2012, another nearby town called Les Cullayes joined with Servion.

Servion was first mentioned in old records way back in 1147. Back then, it was known by names like Salvion or Salviun.

Where is Servion?

Servion covers an area of about 4.2 square kilometers (about 1.6 square miles). A big part of this land, over 60%, is used for farming. About 23.5% is covered by forests, and nearly 16% has buildings or roads.

The town is located on the eastern side of the Broye River. It sits in the eastern part of a region called Jorat. Servion is about 752 meters (2,467 feet) above sea level. It's about 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles) west of Oron-la-Ville and 13 kilometers (8 miles) northeast of Lausanne.

The area around Servion has hills made of sandstone. To the northeast, you'll find the Servion hills, which reach up to 782 meters (2,566 feet). The highest point in the area is 855 meters (2,805 feet) in the Villars woods.

Servion is surrounded by several other towns. These include Essertes, Forel (Lavaux), Les Cullayes, Mézières, and Ferlens in the Vaud canton. It also borders Auboranges in the canton of Fribourg.
