Sheba Temple is a mountain peak in the eastern Grand Canyon in Arizona, United States. It stands at about 4,990 feet (1,521 meters) tall. This impressive landform is located in Coconino County.

Sheba Temple is about 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Solomon Temple. It is also about 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Rama Shrine. The famous Colorado River flows about a mile north-northeast of Sheba Temple.

What is Sheba Temple?

Sheba Temple is a unique rock formation in the Grand Canyon. It is a narrow ridge that runs from north-northeast to south-southwest. This peak looks like a tall, thin wall of rock.

How Sheba Temple Formed

Sheba Temple is made mostly of Redwall Limestone. This rock layer is known for forming very steep cliffs. Below the Redwall Limestone, you can find Muav Limestone. This sits on top of the Bright Angel Shale, which is a dull green rock.

These different rock layers were formed over millions of years. They were laid down as sediments, like sand and mud, in ancient seas. Over time, these sediments hardened into rock.

The Grand Canyon's Rocks

The Grand Canyon shows many layers of rock. These layers are like pages in a history book. They tell us about Earth's past. Sheba Temple is a great example of how erosion shapes these layers.

The Tonto Group is a set of three rock layers found in the Grand Canyon. These layers formed during the Cambrian Period. They include:

Sheba Temple's shape comes from the way these different rock types wear away. The harder rocks form cliffs, while softer rocks create slopes.

Location in the Grand Canyon

Sheba Temple is part of the Kaibab Plateau within the larger Colorado Plateau. The Grand Canyon is a massive natural wonder. It was carved by the Colorado River over millions of years.

The area around Sheba Temple is part of Grand Canyon National Park. This park protects the canyon's amazing geology and wildlife. Many unique plants and animals live here.
