Shilpa Shetty Kundra (born Ashwini Shetty, 8 June 1975) is a famous Indian actress. She mostly works in Hindi films. Shilpa started her acting journey in 1993 with the thriller Baazigar. This role earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.

She had some successful films in the 1990s, like Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994). A big moment in her career was the romantic drama Dhadkan (2000). She also received praise for playing a woman with AIDS in Phir Milenge (2004). This role earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

Shilpa also became well-known in reality television. In 2007, she won the UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother. She later hosted the Indian version, Bigg Boss, in 2008. In February 2006, Shilpa Shetty supported a BBC World Service Trust TV show. This show aimed to help with the problem of HIV-AIDS in India. She participated to show support for people with HIV-AIDS. This issue was important to her because she played an HIV-positive person in her 2004 film Phir Milenge. She said the film aimed to raise awareness about AIDS.

In March 2006, Shilpa joined PETA. She became part of a campaign against using wild animals in circuses. Shilpa is a long-time PETA supporter. She posed in a tiger costume to help the campaign. Shilpa Shetty started dating Akshay Kumar while filming Insaaf (1997). She spoke openly about their relationship. However, they broke up in 2000 while filming Dhadkan.

In February 2009, Shilpa got engaged to Raj Kundra. They were co-owners of the Rajasthan Royals cricket team. They got married on 22 November 2009. Shilpa gave birth to their son on 21 May 2012. The couple had a second child, a girl, on 15 February 2020 through surrogacy.

Impact and Recognition

Shilpa Shetty became one of the most beautiful and hardworking leading actresses of the 1990s. She has appeared in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list several times. In 2007, Rediff.com named Shilpa the "Most Powerful Actress." She is also known for her amazing dancing skills.
