Lonnie Alphonso Kimble (born on January 3, 1990), known as Skeme, is an American rapper. He is from Inglewood, California. In 2012, Skeme released his first album, Alive & Living. His second album, Ingleworld, came out in 2013.
In July 2014, another West Coast rapper, the Game, announced that Skeme had joined his label, Blood Money Entertainment. By 2016, Skeme moved to DJ Drama's Generation Now label. He joined his friend and fellow artist Lil Uzi Vert there.

Early Life and Music Start
Lonnie Kimble was born on January 3, 1990. His parents separated when he was two years old. His father was in the military. He then moved to Inglewood, California, to live with his grandmother. When his father returned when Lonnie was 10, he started listening to hip hop music. He loved memorizing his favorite songs. His dad encouraged him to create his own music and start rapping.
Skeme got his stage name at age 13. A friend noticed how good he was at making money. He said that these ways helped him buy a car while he was in high school. He attended Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, California.
Skeme's Music Journey
Early Mixtapes and First Success
Skeme began rapping around age 12 and started writing songs at 15. He recorded his first song at a studio in Long Beach, California, when he was 16. He started taking rapping seriously at 17, right after high school. Soon after, he met rapper Dolla. They spent a lot of time together and worked on music. Skeme says Dolla greatly influenced him. He shared that Dolla "shaped me into being somebody."
In 2007, Skeme released Skeme Of Things. He followed this with Skeme Of Things 2 in June 2009. On February 17, 2010, he released his third mixtape, All Rap'd Up. During these early years, he became friends with other Los Angeles rappers. These included Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle, and Dom Kennedy. On October 19, 2010, Skeme released his fourth mixtape, Pistols and Palm Trees. He recorded it at Top Dawg Entertainment's studio in Carson, California. This mixtape featured songs with Tyga, Ty Dolla Sign, Dom Kennedy, and Kendrick Lamar. This mixtape helped Skeme become more well-known.
New Mixtapes and First Album
On May 19, 2011, Skeme released his fifth mixtape, The Statement. It included songs with Casey Veggies and Dom Kennedy. Producers like Boi-1da and Bink! worked on it. Later that year, on November 29, Skeme released Before My Next Statement. Skeme also started an entertainment company called L.A. UNFD with basketball player Baron Davis. He then signed a deal with RBC Records for his first studio album.
On October 10, 2012, Skeme shared the song list for his first album, Alive & Living. The album featured guest artists like Iggy Azalea, Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Dom Kennedy, and Problem. Producers like Boi-1da and DJ Mustard worked on the music. The album was released online on October 16, 2012. It included the popular songs "Ain't Bout Dat Life" and "Kidz With Gunz."
In April 2013, Skeme mentioned he was talking with Top Dawg Entertainment about joining their label. He said he wanted to make the "right move." He later decided not to sign with them. He wanted to stay independent and build his own brand. Skeme also talked with other big labels like Def Jam Recordings and Roc Nation. However, he was not in a hurry to sign a major record deal. He appeared in a commercial in October 2013 with Snoop Dogg, YG, and Snow Tha Product.
Ingleworld Album Series
On September 27, 2013, Skeme released his seventh mixtape, Bare With Me. It featured guest artists like The Game, Nipsey Hussle, Problem, and TeeFlii. This mixtape received good reviews. Bare With Me included songs that didn't fit his upcoming album or had sample issues. After this, Skeme appeared on songs by E-40 and The Game. Skeme also toured in the United States and other countries like the United Kingdom and Sweden.
On November 15, 2013, Skeme released the music video for "Millions" from Ingleworld. On November 26, 2013, he showed the cover art and song list for his second album, Ingleworld. It had 15 songs and featured Wale, Nipsey Hussle, Iggy Azalea, and Dom Kennedy. Producers like Boi-1da worked on the album. Skeme explained that the album had a serious feel. The first song from the album, "Different," came out on December 4, 2013.
Ingleworld was released online on December 17, 2013. The album received mostly positive reviews. One reviewer said Skeme "combines an array of styles" to create an album with "charm and depth." Another said it was a "valiant effort." After the album's release, MTV called him one of "hip-hop's top prospects for 2014."
Starting January 23, 2014, Skeme toured with Dom Kennedy. This tour promoted Kennedy's album, Get Home Safely, which Skeme also appeared on. The tour ended on February 27, 2014. Skeme was considered for the 2014 XXL freshman class, but he was not chosen.
On July 14, 2014, The Game announced that Skeme had signed with his Blood Money Entertainment label. Skeme then released a song with The Game called "No Limit." He was also featured on The Game's project, Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf.
In 2015, Skeme worked closely with DJ Drama and Don Cannon at their Generation Now label. He is still part of this group, which includes DJ Drama, Don Cannon, and Lil Uzi Vert. His first song of 2015 was "Red Carpet (Roll Out)." On June 9, 2015, Skeme released the mixtape Ingleworld 2. It featured artists like The Game, T.I., Young Thug, and Lil Uzi Vert. Ingleworld 2 was later released as an album without a DJ. He then announced a third album in his "Ingleworld" series, which came out on November 13, 2015.
Recent Music and Collaborations
Skeme was featured on The Game's album The Documentary 2 on the song "My Flag/Da Homies." A video for this song was released on December 17, 2015. Skeme also appeared on a song by rapper Wale called "Know Me." Skeme announced another album in his Ingleworld series, called Ingleworld4eva. To prepare for this album, he released a mixtape called "Before 4Eva" on free music sites.
On May 6, 2016, DJ Drama released a song from his album Quality Street Music 2. The song was called "Wishing" and featured Chris Brown, Skeme, and LyQuin. A music video was made for "Wishing." It featured DJ Drama, Chris Brown, Skeme, and LyQuin. It also had special appearances by 50 Cent and The Game.
About Skeme's Life
Skeme's great-uncle was the famous blues musician Howlin' Wolf. Skeme has one sibling. Skeme's first son, Khalil Amari Kimble, was born in September 2013. Khalil is also the nephew of Nipsey Hussle.
Skeme's Musical Style
Brooklyne Gipson from Complex magazine said that Skeme shows the different sounds of Los Angeles music. She described his voice as "raspy" with a "West Coast dialect." She also said his raps have the "passion of 2Pac and the wit of Lil Wayne." She also praised his choice of music production.
