Local Programs

TNT creates Tasmania's most popular news program every day. It also produces local shows about lifestyle and sports.

News Programs

The station's main news program is Nightly News. It used to be called Southern Cross News. This show is broadcast live every night at 6:00 PM. It is presented from studios in Launceston and Hobart.

Short news updates are also shown throughout the day. These are broadcast alongside the national Seven News Updates. The Nightly News is consistently the most watched TV program in Tasmania. A shorter version of the daily news is uploaded to the station's YouTube channel. This version only includes local news, sports, and weather.

The station planned to change the news name to Seven News Tasmania in 2018. However, this was delayed. The Seven Network did not want their name on news they did not control. So, the station came up with a new name. On December 3, 2018, the news program became Nightly News. This name was used by the station before, in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Besides Nightly News, Seven Tasmania also shows national news from the Seven Network. These include:

  • Sunrise
  • Weekend Sunrise
  • The Morning Show
  • Seven News (Early News, Morning News, Afternoon News at 4, Weekend Afternoon News at 5, The Latest)

TNT also shows the weekday Seven News at 4 from Melbourne. It also broadcasts Seven Morning News at 11:30 AM on weekdays and Seven News at 5 on weekends from Sydney.
