Space Goofs (also known as Les Zinzins de l'Espace in French) is a fun French cartoon show. It was made by Gaumont Multimedia for its first season and Xilam Animation for its second. The show first aired in France on France 3 from September 6, 1997, to May 12, 2006.
It also became popular in other countries. In Germany, it started on ProSieben in the same year. In the UK, the first season was called Home to Rent and aired on Channel 4 in 1998. The second season, under the name Space Goofs, came out on Nicktoons UK in 2005. Reruns of the first season were also shown on Pop. In the United States, it was part of the Fox Kids lineup on Fox.
A video game called Stupid Invaders was made based on the series in 2000. It was created by Xilam and published by Ubi Soft Entertainment for computers and Sega Dreamcast. The game was dedicated to the show's creator, Jean-Yves Raimbaud, who passed away in 1998.

What's the Story?
Five funny aliens from a planet called Zigma B are the main characters. Their names are Candy H. Caramella, Etno Polino, Stereo Monovici, Bud Budiovitch, and Gorgious Klatoo. They were having a picnic in space when their spaceship crashed into an asteroid, sending them all the way to planet Earth.
The aliens quickly realize that if any human finds out they are from outer space, they might be caught and studied by scientists. So, they decide to hide in the attic of a house that is up for rent. They have two main goals: first, to find a way to get back to their home planet, and second, to scare away anyone who tries to move into their hiding spot. To stay secret, the aliens use a special device called the SMTV. This device lets them change into almost any person or thing they want, but it always cycles through three other forms first.
Meet the Characters
- Candy Hector Caramella: Candy is small and green with a wrinkly forehead. He wears a polka-dotted apron and loves things to be super clean and tidy. He is the neat freak of the group. In the original French and English versions, Candy's voice sounds like a fancy English accent.
- Etno Polino: Etno is short and purple with red lips and a big nose. He is the leader and the smartest one in the group. Etno is a science genius who builds all kinds of machines, especially rockets, to help them return home. However, their attempts to fly back to space often fail because his rockets break down or someone else accidentally gets on board.
- Stereo Monovici: Stereo is red and has two heads, each with a slightly long nose. Since each head has its own mind, Stereo acts like two different people. They love to read and know a lot of facts, but sometimes they use their smarts for silly things. The two heads often argue with each other. Stereo was not in most of Season 2 but did appear in two episodes.
- Bud Budiovitch: Bud is tall and orange with three strands of hair, a long neck, and big, pink eyes. He is very lazy and innocent. Bud loves watching television and spends most of his time sitting in front of it, drinking soft drinks. He is usually the last to panic in a tricky situation and sometimes comes up with the best ideas, but others often don't listen to him.
- Gorgious Klatoo: Gorgious is big and blue with a heavy chin and a tooth that sticks out. He is the grumpy and tough one of the group. Gorgious is very greedy and enjoys teasing the other aliens and eating a lot.
