Stephen James Doocy (born October 19, 1956) is an American TV host, writer, and political commentator. He is best known as a co-host of Fox & Friends, a popular morning show on the Fox News Channel.

Early Life and School
Steve Doocy was born in Algona, Iowa. He was the first child and only son of James and JoAnne Doocy. His family moved around a lot when he was young.
He went to different schools in Kansas, including in Russell, Salina, and Industry. He also attended junior high in Wakefield and high school in Clay Center, Kansas.
Steve later went to the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He earned a degree in journalism. While there, he was the very first on-air disc jockey for KJHK radio. This was a student-run radio station.
Steve Doocy's Career in TV
Steve Doocy started his TV career as a reporter. He worked at local TV stations in cities like Topeka, Des Moines, and Kansas City.
His first big job was as a features reporter for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. In 1990, he became the host of a national TV show called House Party with Steve Doocy. This show was a new version of an older program. After that, he hosted a kids' show called Not Just News.
In 1994, Steve began working on morning shows. He co-hosted Wake Up America on NBC's America's Talking channel. Later, in 1996, he anchored the morning news for WCBS-TV in New York City. He also reported live from Times Square for ABC-TV's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve four times.
Joining Fox News
Steve Doocy joined the Fox News Channel in 1996. In 1998, he started co-hosting Fox & Friends. This show became very popular.
In 2004, he helped start Fox News Channel's New Year's Eve special, All American New Year.
Fox & Friends and Politics
Fox & Friends often interviewed Donald Trump before and after he became president. After his election, Trump called it "the most honest morning show." During his first year as president, Trump watched the show often. He would even quote it on Twitter. This led The New York Times to call Fox & Friends "the most powerful TV show in America."
In 2019, it was reported that Trump rated reporters based on their loyalty. Steve Doocy reportedly received a very high rating.
In 2020, Steve Doocy made news when he spoke up about President Trump's plan to appear weekly on Fox and Friends. Doocy said that Fox was not committed to weekly appearances. He also invited Joe Biden, who was running for president at the time, to appear on the show. He offered Biden the same amount of airtime as Trump.
More recently, in 2022 and 2023, Doocy questioned some claims about the Joe Biden-Ukraine Investigation. He argued that there was no clear evidence to support an impeachment. Because of this, Trump criticized him. Also, Representative James Comer stopped appearing on the show.
Steve Doocy has won several awards for his TV reporting and writing. These include awards from the Associated Press and 11 Emmy Awards.
Books Written by Steve Doocy
Steve Doocy is also a successful author. In 2020, he and his wife Kathy published the Happy in a Hurry Cookbook. This book quickly became a number one bestseller on the New York Times list. It was one of the most popular cookbooks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This cookbook was a follow-up to their successful 2018 book, Happy Cookbook: A Celebration of the Food That Makes America Smile.
The Doocys have also written other books together. These include The Mr. and Mrs. Happy Handbook and Tales from the Dad Side. All four of their books have been New York Times bestsellers.
Steve Doocy's Family Life
Steve Doocy is married to Kathy Doocy. Kathy used to be a model and a TV sports reporter. They have three adult children: Mary, Sally, and Peter Doocy. Peter is also a well-known reporter for Fox News.
The Doocy family lives in Wyckoff, New Jersey. Kathy Doocy is a cancer survivor. Steve and Kathy also have one granddaughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, who was born in 2023.
Steve Doocy is Roman Catholic and helps out at his church as a lector. In 2014, he was named "Distinguished Kansan of the Year."
