Stephen James Doocy (born October 19, 1956) is an American television host and author. He is well-known for being a co-anchor of Fox & Friends on the Fox News Channel. He worked on the show from 1998 until May 2025. Now, Steve Doocy works part-time for the program from Florida. He focuses on special projects for the show.

Early Life and Education
Steve Doocy was born in Algona, Iowa. He was the first child and only son of James and JoAnne Doocy. His family moved around a lot when he was young. He grew up in Industry, Kansas. He went to grade schools in Russell, Salina, and Industry.
Doocy attended junior high in Wakefield. He went to high school in Clay Center, Kansas. He later graduated from the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He earned a degree in journalism. While in college, he was the first on-air disc jockey for KJHK radio. This was a student-run radio station.
Steve Doocy's Career in Television
Doocy started his TV career as a reporter. He worked at stations in Topeka, Des Moines, Wichita, and Kansas City. His first big job was as a features reporter for WRC-TV in Washington, D.C.
In 1990, Doocy became the host of a national TV show. It was called House Party with Steve Doocy. This show was a new version of an older show from the 1960s. After that, he hosted a kids' TV series called Not Just News.
Morning Shows and News Anchoring
In 1994, Doocy got his first morning show job. He was a co-host of Wake Up America. This show was on NBC's America's Talking channel. Later, in 1996, he anchored the morning news for WCBS-TV in New York City. This was CBS-TV's main station.
He also reported live from Times Square for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. This was on ABC-TV. He reported for four ball drops on New Year's Eve.
Joining Fox News Channel
Steve Doocy joined the Fox News Channel in 1996. In 1998, he started co-hosting their morning show, Fox & Friends. In 2004, he helped start Fox News Channel's New Year's Eve special. It was called All American New Year.
Fox & Friends often interviewed Donald Trump. This was both before and after he became president. After he was elected, Trump called it "the most honest morning show." During his first year as president, Trump often watched the show. He also quoted it on Twitter. Because of this, The New York Times called Fox & Friends "the most powerful TV show in America."
In 2019, it was reported that Trump rated reporters' loyalty. Doocy reportedly received a very high rating.
On September 15, 2020, Doocy made news. He questioned President Trump's plan for weekly appearances on Fox and Friends. Doocy said that Fox was not committed to weekly interviews. He stated they would decide "on a case-by-case basis." Doocy also invited Joe Biden, who was running for president, to appear on the show. He offered Biden the same amount of airtime as Trump.
In 2022 and 2023, Doocy gained attention for challenging his co-hosts. This was about the Joe Biden-Ukraine Investigation. He argued that there was no proof to support an impeachment. Because of this, Trump criticized him. Also, James Comer, who leads the House Oversight Committee, stopped appearing on the show.
Doocy has won several awards for his TV reporting and writing. These include awards from the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. He has also won 11 Emmy Awards.
On May 1, 2025, Doocy announced he would step back from hosting Fox & Friends. He had been a co-anchor for 27 years. He now works three days a week from Florida. He focuses on special projects for the show.

In 2020, Steve Doocy and his wife Kathy published a cookbook. It was called Happy in a Hurry Cookbook. This book quickly became a number one bestseller on the New York Times list. It was one of the most popular cookbooks during the COVID-19 pandemic that year. This book was a follow-up to their successful 2018 book, Happy Cookbook: A Celebration of the Food That Makes America Smile.
The Doocys have also written other books together. These include The Mr. and Mrs. Happy Handbook and Tales from the Dad Side. All four of their books were published by William Morrow and Company. They all became New York Times bestsellers.
Steve Doocy's Family Life
Steve Doocy is married to Kathy Doocy. She used to be a model and a TV sports reporter. They have three adult children: Mary, Sally, and Peter Doocy. Their son, Peter, is a Senior White House Correspondent for Fox News.
The Doocy family lives in Wyckoff, New Jersey. Kathy Doocy is a cancer survivor. Steve and Kathy have two grandchildren. Their granddaughter, Bridget Blake Doocy, was born on February 1, 2023. Their grandson, George Jack Doocy, was born on April 16, 2025. These are the children of Peter Doocy and Hillary Vaughn.
Steve Doocy is Roman Catholic. He serves as a lector in his church. In 2014, he was named Distinguished Kansan of the Year. This award was given by the Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas.
