Sydney Mikayla Shepherd, born on February 1, 2003, is a talented American actress. She is known professionally as Sydney Mikayla.
In 2014, Sydney played the role of Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas in a TV movie. This movie was shown on the Lifetime channel. For her amazing performance, Sydney won a Young Artist Award.
From 2019 to 2022, Sydney was a regular on the TV show General Hospital. She played the character of Trina Robinson on the ABC network. Sydney also uses her voice for characters in cartoons. She is the voice of Wolf in the Netflix animated series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.

About Sydney's Early Life and School
Sydney Mikayla Shepherd was born on February 1, 2003. Her parents are Sonya Shepherd and Derek Shepherd. Sydney's mom, Sonya, is also an actress. She has worked in plays on Broadway, and in TV shows and movies.
Sonya did not make Sydney become an actress. But she fully supported Sydney's choice to act. When Sydney was 5 years old, her mom enrolled her in acting classes. These classes were at the Amazing Grace Conservatory. There, she learned from the experienced actress Wendy Raquel Robinson. Sydney also started dancing at Debbie Allen's Dance Academy.
Before she got her role on General Hospital, Sydney went to a public high school. This school focused on performing arts. In 2019, Sydney started learning from home. This helped her manage her busy acting schedule. Sydney is an only child, but she has a dog named Champ.
Sydney was accepted into 14 different colleges! She decided to go to the University of California, Los Angeles. She started college there in the fall of 2021.
Sydney's Acting Career
Sydney Mikayla started her acting career with small roles. She appeared in an episode of her favorite childhood show, Yo Gabba Gabba!. She also had a part in the TV show Days of Our Lives. In 2011, Sydney got her first credited role. This was in a TV movie called Little in Common.
After that, she appeared in many other TV shows. These included Parenthood and Hawthorne. She also acted in Community, Hot in Cleveland, and Whitney.
In 2013, Sydney was chosen to play a young Gabby Douglas. This was for a Lifetime TV movie. She acted alongside Academy Award winner, Regina King. Sydney won a Young Artist Award in 2014 for playing Gabby Douglas.
After the success of The Gabby Douglas Story, Sydney continued acting. She appeared in shows like Instant Mom and Teachers. She also had roles in Game Shakers and Fuller House. Sydney once shared that it was hard to get roles for a while. This was because she was taller than other kids her age.
In late 2018, Sydney joined the cast of General Hospital. She played the character of Trina Robinson. A few months after her first appearance in February 2019, she signed a contract. This made her a regular cast member. In October 2021, it was announced that Sydney would appear less often. This was so she could focus on college. The show agreed to work around her school schedule.
On March 4, 2022, a magazine called Soap Opera Digest shared news. They said Sydney would leave her role on March 17. Another actress took over the part of Trina. The show's producer, Frank Valentini, and Sydney explained her decision. She wanted to focus on her college studies full-time.
