Tariq Jamil (born October 1, 1953) is a well-known Islamic scholar and preacher from Pakistan. He is part of the Tablighi Jama'at, a group that focuses on spreading Islamic teachings.
He has received the Pride of Performance award for his work. Since 2012, Tariq Jamil has been named among The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world. In 2024, he was ranked as the 34th most influential Muslim. He was also voted Pakistan's most admired man in YouGov polls in 2018 and 2020.

Early Life and Education
Tariq Jamil was born on October 1, 1953, in Mian Channu, Punjab. His family was a well-known Punjabi Rajput family with a history of land ownership. His ancestors were rulers of Tulamba, a town near Mian Channu, in the 16th century. His younger brother, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Kamal Sahu, is a famous heart doctor in Lahore.
Schooling and College
Jamil went to Central Model School, Lahore for his early education. He later attended Government College University, Lahore. He first enrolled in King Edward Medical College to study medicine. However, he decided to leave medical school to focus on religious studies.
Islamic Studies
He received his Islamic education at Jamia Arabia in Raiwind. There, he studied important Islamic texts like the Qur’an and hadiths. He also learned about Sufism, logic, and Islamic law.
