The Tensas River is a river located in Louisiana, a state in the United States. In its upper parts, it is sometimes called Tensas Bayou. This river starts in East Carroll Parish, which is in the very northeast corner of Louisiana.
The Tensas River flows southwest for about 177 miles (285 km). It runs mostly alongside the Mississippi River. Eventually, the Tensas River joins with the Ouachita River in Jonesville. This meeting point is in Catahoula Parish. When these two rivers meet, they form what is known as the Black River. This Black River is different from Black Lake, which is found in Natchitoches Parish.
