Terrell Maurice Gausha is an American professional boxer. He was born on September 9, 1987. Terrell is known for his strong boxing skills and has competed in some big fights. In 2017, he even fought for a major boxing title. Before becoming a professional, he proudly represented the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the middleweight division.

Early Life and Boxing Start
Terrell Gausha grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He started boxing when he was just 10 years old. He went to Glenville High School and graduated in 2005. Terrell began his boxing journey at The Glenville Recreation Center, where he was coached by Bob Davis. Later, Renard Safo also coached him.
Amateur Boxing Journey
Terrell had a very successful amateur boxing career.
Winning National Titles
In 2009, he won the USA National Title, which is a big achievement for an amateur boxer. He also competed in international matches and the World Series of Boxing, where he had a good record of 5 wins and 2 losses.
Road to the Olympics
In 2012, Terrell entered the USA Championship tournament. Even though he wasn't expected to win, he surprised everyone! He defeated several top boxers, including a National Golden Gloves Champion and the previous number one boxer. Terrell won six fights in just seven days. On March 3, 2012, he became the USA National Champion by beating Caleb Plant, who was the champion before him.
Winning this championship gave him a chance to qualify for the Olympics. On May 9, 2012, he won a key match in the Americas Olympic Qualification Tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This victory guaranteed him a spot in the 2012 Olympics! A few days later, on May 13, 2012, he won the gold medal in that tournament.
Olympic Experience
Terrell Gausha competed in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. On July 28, 2012, he won his first Olympic fight with an amazing knockout against Armenian boxer Andranik Hakobyan. However, his Olympic journey ended in the next fight. He lost to India's Vijender Singh in a decision that many people found controversial.
Professional Boxing Career
After his amateur success, Terrell Gausha became a professional boxer.
First Professional Fights
He started his professional career on November 9, 2012. In his first fight, he knocked out Dustin Caplinger. In his fourth professional fight, he was knocked down by William Waters, but he still managed to win the fight by a unanimous decision.
Challenging for a World Title
On October 14, 2017, Terrell had a huge opportunity. He challenged Erislandy Lara for the WBA (Super) and IBO light middleweight titles. This was a big event with other important fights happening on the same night. Lara knocked Terrell down during the fight and won by a unanimous decision after 12 rounds. Even though Terrell lost, it was a valuable experience fighting for a world title.
Recent Fights
After the Lara fight, Terrell bounced back quickly. He won his next fight against Joey Hernandez with a first-round TKO (Technical Knockout).
In May 2019, Terrell fought Austin Trout. Many thought Terrell fought very well and was leading the fight. However, the judges had different opinions, and the fight ended in a split draw, meaning neither boxer won.
Later, Terrell fought Erickson Lubin in a fight to decide who would get a chance at the WBC super welterweight title. Lubin won that fight by a unanimous decision.
On March 13, 2021, Terrell Gausha had another impressive win, knocking out Jamontay Clark in the second round.

Terrell Gausha has also challenged for the WBC middleweight title.
Gausha vs. Adames
On June 15, 2024, Terrell fought Carlos Adames for the WBC middleweight title in Las Vegas. Terrell lost this fight by a unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
Gausha vs. Garcia
Terrell Gausha also faced Elijah Garcia on March 22, 2025, in Las Vegas. Terrell lost this fight by a split decision.
