Story of the Mysterious Island
The Great Valley's Trouble
One day, many "leaf-gobblers" came to the Great Valley. These were like locusts. They ate all the plants. The valley became a dry, empty place. The dinosaurs had to find a new home. They needed to wait for the plants to grow back.
The leaf-gobblers had eaten everything. There was no food left for the dinosaurs. After many days of searching, the grown-ups started to argue. Cera's father and Littlefoot's grandfather disagreed. They fought about which way to go. This made Littlefoot and Cera argue too.
A New Path
Cera's father then said that each family should go its own way. Littlefoot did not want to be separated from his friends. So, he led his friends away that night. They hoped to find food before the grown-ups caught them. They left a trail for their families to follow.
Soon, they reached the "Big Water". The water was salty and they could not drink it. They felt sad. Then, the children saw a green island. It was connected to the mainland by a thin land bridge. They started to cross it.
Island Adventure
Suddenly, an earthshake happened. It caused a huge tsunami wave. They barely escaped the wave. On the island, they quickly ate the many plants. But then, they saw something scary. The tsunami had destroyed the land bridge. They were now stuck on the island!
They tried Cera's idea to go back. They used a log as a boat. At first, it worked well. But Cera felt seasick. Petrie was too scared of the Big Water to look out. A big fish called a Cretoxyrhina attacked their log. In the confusion, they ended up back on the island.
That night, they missed their families. On the mainland, the grown-ups had followed their trail. They slept on the beach. They worried about the children. Cera's father blamed Littlefoot for them leaving.
Meeting Chomper Again
The next morning, the children saw a shadow. It looked like a Sharptooth. But it was Chomper! Chomper was a young Sharptooth. He had hatched when the children cared for him. He had gone back to his parents in the second movie. Now, Chomper could talk!
Chomper took them to a safe place. They hid from his parents. A Giganotosaurus living on the island started hunting the children. Later, a Pterodactylus caught Ducky. But she got away safely. Chomper hid the children in smelly plants. He also gave them leafy food.
Cera did not trust Chomper. She was careful because he was a Sharptooth. This made Chomper sad, and he left. Littlefoot followed him to say sorry. But Chomper's mother appeared. She nuzzled Chomper, showing love. Then she left. Littlefoot was surprised by her love for Chomper.
A Brave Rescue
As Littlefoot went back, the Giganotosaurus found them. It chased the children. Chomper tried to help, but the Sharptooth was too strong. Chomper's parents came to save him and the children. They fought the Sharptooth near the island's edge. The Sharptooth fell into the Big Water. It pulled Chomper with it. His parents were shocked.
Littlefoot jumped into the water to save Chomper. The Sharptooth was swept away by the current. Another swimming Sharptooth appeared. But then, a friendly plesiosaur appeared. She was an Elasmosaurus named Elsie. Elsie saved Littlefoot and Chomper from drowning.
She took them back to the island. Chomper's family was thankful. They promised not to hurt the children. Chomper's father even said that Spike, who smelled bad from the plants, would not taste good anyway. Chomper's mother also nuzzled Littlefoot. She was grateful he saved Chomper.
Back Home
Cera then understood that not all Sharpteeth were bad. Elsie offered to take them across the sea. Chomper and his parents said goodbye happily. They promised to see each other again. When the children got back to the mainland, they found their families. The herd had found a lush, green place by the shore. They could stay there until the Great Valley grew back. The movie ends with the Great Valley becoming green again. The herd then returns home.
