His Acting Journey
Starting Out and Early Success (2014–2020)
In 2012, producer Sajid Nadiadwala chose Tiger Shroff for his first movie, Heropanti. It was an action romantic comedy directed by Sabbir Khan. To get ready for the role, Tiger trained to become very flexible.
Heropanti was released in 2014 and became a big hit. People praised his amazing dancing, action scenes, and how well he could do stunts. However, some critics felt his acting and dialogue delivery needed improvement. Still, he won the Screen Award for Best Male Debut and the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male for his role.
In 2016, Tiger Shroff worked again with the same team for Baaghi. This movie was about a martial arts school and also starred Shraddha Kapoor. Baaghi was also a very successful film. Later that year, he played a martial arts teacher who gets superpowers in the superhero movie A Flying Jatt, alongside Jacqueline Fernandez. In 2017, he worked with Sabbir for the third time in the dance film Munna Michael. Both A Flying Jatt and Munna Michael did not do well at the box office.
In 2018, Tiger Shroff appeared in Baaghi 2, which was a follow-up to Baaghi. He starred opposite Disha Patani. In this film, he played a rebellious army officer looking for his ex-girlfriend's missing daughter. Baaghi 2 earned a lot of money and became one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2018.
In 2019, Tiger Shroff starred in Student of the Year 2, a teen drama. This was his first romantic drama film. He played a college student who takes part in a school championship. Critics said his performance was the main strength of the film.
Later in 2019, Shroff acted in the action thriller War with Hrithik Roshan. This movie became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of that year and is Tiger Shroff's biggest hit so far. It had a record-breaking opening day.
In 2020, he starred in Baaghi 3, the third movie in the Baaghi series, reuniting with Shraddha Kapoor. The movie's earnings were affected because cinemas closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it still managed to earn a good amount worldwide.
Recent Films (2021–Present)
After no new releases in 2021, Tiger Shroff starred in Heropanti 2 in 2022, a sequel to his first film. It received negative reviews and did not perform well at the box office. In 2023, Shroff played a double role in the science fiction action film Ganapath, where he worked with Kriti Sanon again. While his action scenes were praised, some felt his emotional acting was not as strong. This film also did not do well.
In 2024, Shroff teamed up with Akshay Kumar in the action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. This movie also struggled at the box office, making it his third film in a row that did not perform as expected. Shroff then appeared in Rohit Shetty's Cop Universe series in the action sequel Singham Again (2024), starring Ajay Devgn. This film had modest box-office returns.
Tiger Shroff is expected to star next in the action sequel Baaghi 4.
