College Football Career
Freshman Year (2012)
Gurley quickly became a key player for the Georgia Bulldogs. In his very first game, he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 100 yards for another touchdown. He became the starting running back in the second game.
Throughout the 2012 season, Gurley had many strong performances. He rushed for over 100 yards in several games. He helped Georgia win the SEC East division. In the SEC Championship game against Alabama, he rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Georgia finished the season with 12 wins and 2 losses.
Gurley rushed for 1,385 yards and 17 touchdowns in his freshman year. His 17 rushing touchdowns were tied for third-most in school history for a single season. He was named First-Team All-SEC.
Sophomore Year (2013)
In 2013, Gurley's role expanded to include more receiving plays. In the season opener, he rushed for a career-high 154 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored receiving touchdowns in several games.
Despite playing in only ten games due to injuries, Gurley rushed for 989 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also caught 37 passes for 441 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. He led the team in rushing and receiving touchdowns. After the season, he was named Second-Team All-SEC.
In the spring of 2013, Gurley also joined the Georgia Bulldogs indoor track team. He competed in the 60-meter hurdles.
Junior Year (2014)
The 2014 season was challenging for Gurley. In the first game, he rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown. Later in the season, he rushed for 208 yards against Tennessee. This was the most by a Georgia running back since 1992.
However, Gurley was suspended by the University of Georgia for four games. This was because he had received money for signing autographs. In his first game back from suspension, he suffered a serious knee injury (tore his ACL). This injury ended his junior season and his college career.
Gurley decided to leave college early and enter the 2015 NFL draft. He finished his college career with 3,285 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns. These numbers ranked him very high in Georgia's school history.

Atlanta Falcons (2020)
In April 2020, Gurley signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons. He scored his first touchdown as a Falcon in Week 1. In Week 4, he scored two rushing touchdowns.
In Week 7 against the Detroit Lions, Gurley scored a touchdown late in the game. However, he tried to stop before the goal line to run out the clock, but accidentally scored. This gave the Lions enough time to get the ball back and win the game.
Gurley finished the 2020 season with 678 rushing yards and 9 rushing touchdowns. He shared carries with other running backs.
After not playing in 2021, Gurley confirmed in October 2022 that he was done playing professional football.
