Tomáš Jurčo (born December 28, 1992) is a professional ice hockey player from Slovakia. He plays as a right winger for Kunlun Red Star in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Tomáš started his hockey journey with HC Košice in Slovakia. In 2009, he moved to North America to play for the Saint John Sea Dogs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He played there for three seasons. During this time, he helped his team win the Memorial Cup in 2011. This cup is for the best major junior team in Canada. The Detroit Red Wings picked him in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 35th player chosen overall.

Playing Career
Junior Hockey Days
In 2009, the Saint John Sea Dogs chose Tomáš Jurčo as the fourth player overall in the CHL Import Draft. He joined the team that same year. He was even nominated for the QMJHL Rookie of the Year award for the 2009–10 season.
People noticed his amazing skills, especially how he handled the puck and saw the game. Some even compared him to his favorite player, Marián Hossa, who is also from Slovakia. Tomáš's videos showing off his cool hockey moves became very popular online.
He played a big part in the Sea Dogs winning the Memorial Cup in 2011. His team beat the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 3–1 in the final game. On June 25, 2011, the Detroit Red Wings drafted him. He was their first pick in that draft year.

Starting Professional Hockey
On August 7, 2012, Tomáš signed his first professional contract with the Red Wings. He was sent to play for their minor league team, the Grand Rapids Griffins, in the American Hockey League (AHL). This was for the 2012–13 season. In his first year as a pro, he scored 14 goals and made 14 assists in 74 games.
Tomáš was one of the top scorers for the Griffins during the 2013 Calder Cup playoffs. He scored eight goals and had six assists. His help led the Griffins to win the Calder Cup championship. They beat the Syracuse Crunch to win the title.
He started the 2013–14 season with the Griffins. Then, he was called up to play for the Detroit Red Wings. At that time, he was leading the Griffins in goals, assists, and total points. On December 15, 2013, Tomáš played his very first NHL game for the Red Wings. Two nights later, on December 17, he scored his first NHL goal against the Anaheim Ducks.
Moving Teams
On July 24, 2015, Tomáš signed a new two-year contract with the Red Wings. He was later sent back to the Grand Rapids Griffins for a short time to get more playing time. While there, he had an amazing game on November 20, 2015. He scored three power-play goals, which tied a team record. He was even named the AHL Player of the Week for his great performance.
On February 24, 2017, Tomáš was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He played 159 games for the Red Wings, scoring 15 goals and making 24 assists. He finished the season with the Blackhawks, scoring one goal in 13 games. He signed a new one-year contract with the Blackhawks on June 26, 2017.
After his contract with the Blackhawks ended, Tomáš became a free agent. He later signed a one-year AHL contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds on January 3, 2019. He played well there, scoring 10 points in 14 games. Then, he was traded to the Charlotte Checkers on February 25, 2019. He quickly made a big impact with the Checkers, who were leading the league. He helped them win the Calder Cup with 18 points in 18 playoff games. This was his second AHL championship!
On July 1, 2019, Tomáš signed with the Edmonton Oilers. He started the 2019–20 season with the Oilers. He had two assists in 12 games before being sent to their AHL team, the Bakersfield Condors. He played only eight games with the Condors due to an injury before the season was stopped because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a free agent, Tomáš signed a one-year contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on October 10, 2020.
On November 3, 2021, Tomáš signed a one-year contract with Barys Nur-Sultan in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). In his season with Barys in 2021–22, he scored 11 points in 17 regular season games.
For the 2022–23 season, Tomáš joined the Chinese club, Kunlun Red Star, on November 24, 2022. After playing for HC Davos and Avangard Omsk, he rejoined Kunlun Red Star on July 26, 2024, for the 2024–25 season.

Tomáš Jurčo has played for Slovakia in many international tournaments. He represented Slovakia at the 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. He also played in the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, where he was the team's top scorer with one goal and seven assists.
He was chosen to play for the senior Slovakia team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He scored one goal in four games there.
Tomáš also represented Slovakia at the 2015 IIHF World Championship and the 2016 IIHF World Championship. In 2016, he scored two goals and had three assists in seven games. He was part of the Slovak team that won a bronze medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Personal Life
Tomáš Jurčo has an older sister named Petra Jurčová. She is also a hockey player and has played for the Slovak women's ice hockey team.
