Trence Mason (born August 6, 1993) is a former professional football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the St. Louis Rams from 2014 to 2016. Before playing professionally, he was a star college player for the Auburn Tigers. In 2013, he was recognized as a first-team All-American. The Rams chose him in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Early Life and Sports Talents

Tre Mason grew up in Boynton Beach, Florida. He went to Park Vista Community High School. There, he was a very good player in both football and basketball. He also ran track.

Football Achievements in High School

In 2011, during his senior year, Mason ran for 1,643 yards. He also scored 24 touchdowns. He was named the Palm Beach Large School Offensive Player of the Year in 2009. He also made the First-Team All-Palm Beach County.

Track and Field Skills

Mason was also a talented sprinter and jumper on his school's track team. In 2009, he finished 7th in the 100 meters race with a time of 10.9 seconds. He also showed his jumping skills. In 2010, he placed sixth in the long jump with a jump of 6.63 meters. He also competed in high jump, reaching 1.88 meters in 2011.

Professional Football Career

After his successful college career, Tre Mason decided to enter the NFL Draft.

Joining the NFL

On January 9, 2014, Mason announced he would join the NFL draft. He was chosen by the St. Louis Rams in the third round. He was the 75th player picked overall. Mason was the third player drafted by the Rams that year.

Rookie Season Success (2014)

In his first NFL season (2014), Mason showed his talent. In a game against the Seattle Seahawks, he ran for 85 yards and scored a touchdown. Later, against the Denver Broncos, he rushed for 113 yards. In a game versus the Oakland Raiders, Mason had an outstanding performance. He ran for 117 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. He also caught a pass for another touchdown. After rushing for 765 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2014, Mason was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. This means he was recognized as one of the best new players in the league.

Later Years with the Rams

After the 2015 season, Mason's time with the Rams became difficult. He was released by the Rams on March 10, 2017.

Playing in Canada

On May 30, 2018, Mason signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He became an important player for the Roughriders. In one game, the 2018 Banjo Bowl, he ran for 117 yards. He played in all 18 games that season. He scored three rushing touchdowns late in the year. Mason finished the 2018 season with 809 rushing yards. He was released by the Roughriders on May 10, 2019.
