Trence Mason (born August 6, 1993) is an American former professional football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the St. Louis Rams from 2014 to 2016. Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Auburn Tigers. In 2013, he was recognized as a first-team All-American. The Rams chose him in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft.

Early Life and Sports

Tre Mason grew up in Boynton Beach, Florida. He went to Park Vista Community High School. There, he was a star player in both football and basketball. He also competed in track.

High School Football Achievements

In 2011, during his senior year, Mason ran for 1,643 yards. He also scored 24 touchdowns. He was named the Palm Beach Large School Offensive Player of the Year in 2009. He also made the First-Team All-Palm Beach County list.

Track and Field Skills

Mason was also a talented sprinter and jumper. In 2009, he finished 7th in the 100 meters race. His time was 10.9 seconds. He also had a great long jump of 6.63 meters in 2010. In 2011, he achieved a high jump of 1.88 meters.

College Football Career

Tre Mason played college football for the Auburn Tigers. He quickly made an impact on the team.

First College Game Highlight

In his very first college game, Auburn played against Utah State. Mason returned a kick-off 97 yards for a touchdown. This was an exciting start to his college career.

SEC Championship Game Records

In the 2013 SEC Championship Game, Mason played against Missouri. He set new records for rushing in this game. He ran for 304 yards, breaking a record from 2003. He also scored four touchdowns and had 46 rushing attempts. Mason was named the game's most valuable player.

National Recognition

As a junior in 2013, Mason was chosen for the first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC). He was also one of six finalists for the famous 2013 Heisman Trophy. This award goes to the most outstanding player in college football.

Breaking School Rushing Records

In the 2014 BCS National Championship Game, Mason rushed for 195 yards. He carried the ball 34 times and scored one touchdown. He finished his 2013 season with 1,816 rushing yards. This broke the school record held by Heisman winner Bo Jackson.

Professional Football Career

Tre Mason decided to enter the NFL draft on January 9, 2014. He was chosen by the St. Louis Rams.

Joining the St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams picked Mason in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was the 75th player chosen overall. Mason was the Rams' third pick that year.

Rookie Season Highlights (2014)

In his first NFL season, Mason showed his talent. In Week 7, he ran for 85 yards and scored a touchdown against the Seattle Seahawks. In Week 11, he gained 113 yards against the Denver Broncos. During a game in Week 13, he ran for 117 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. He also had one receiving touchdown. After rushing for 765 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2014, Mason was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Later Years with the Rams

After the 2015 season, there were reports that Mason was not in contact with the Rams team. On March 10, 2017, the Rams released Mason from the team.

Playing in the CFL (2018)

On May 30, 2018, Mason signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This team is part of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He became an important player for the Roughriders. He had a strong game in the 2018 Banjo Bowl, running for 117 yards. Mason played in all 18 games that season. He scored three rushing touchdowns near the end of the year. He missed the Roughriders' playoff game due to an injury.
