Ulmiz (also known as Ormey in French) is a small town in Switzerland. It is located in the Canton of Fribourg. This canton is mostly French-speaking. However, Ulmiz is one of the towns where most people speak German. It is part of the See district.

History of Ulmiz
Ulmiz is an old town with a long history. The first time anyone wrote about Ulmiz was in the year 1200. Back then, it was called Hulmeis.
Later, in 1390, its French name was mentioned. It was called Ormeis. This shows how the town has been known by both German and French names over time.
Geography of Ulmiz
Ulmiz covers an area of about 2.86 square kilometers (1.1 square miles). A large part of this land is used for farming. About 68% of the area is farmland.
Forests cover a good portion of Ulmiz too. About 26% of the town's land is covered by trees. The rest of the land, about 6.7%, has buildings and roads.
Most of the built-up area is made up of houses and other buildings. Roads and other transport paths make up a smaller part. The forests are mostly dense woods. Some small areas have orchards or groups of trees.
