The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country in the Middle East. It has sent athletes to the Summer Olympic Games eight times. The UAE has never taken part in the Winter Olympics.

The country won its very first Olympic medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece. The group that organizes sports for the UAE, called the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee, was created in 1979. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially recognized them in 1980. This recognition allowed UAE athletes to compete in the Olympic Games.
