Vitacura is a special area, or commune, in Chile. It is located in the Santiago Province, which is part of the Santiago Metropolitan Region. Vitacura is known as one of the most expensive and stylish places in Santiago. Many families with higher incomes live here. It is found in the northeastern part of Santiago.
Vitacura and the nearby area of Las Condes have many excellent private schools. Some of these include Saint George's College, Colegio Santa Úrsula, Alliance Francaise, Colegio La Maisonette, Colegio Tabancura, Colegio Los Andes, Colegio Sagrados Corazones de Manquehue, and Colegio San Benito.
The Costanera Norte toll-road helps people travel easily from Vitacura to the international airport. You can also find subway stations in the next-door area of Las Condes.
Vitacura is home to some important places. The main office for ECLAC is here. It also has the Chilean headquarters for the European Southern Observatory (ESO), which studies space. Plus, you'll find Santiago's most exclusive shopping street, Avenida Alonso de Córdova, in Vitacura.
The Gliders Club of Vitacura is also located in this commune. This area is perfect for glider flights because of its great weather conditions.

About Vitacura's Population
According to a 2002 survey by the National Statistics Institute, Vitacura covers an area of 28.3 square kilometers. At that time, it had 81,499 residents. This included 35,118 men and 46,381 women. The entire commune is considered an urban area, meaning it's a city or town, not a rural countryside. Between 1992 and 2002, the population grew by 2.7%, which is about 2,124 more people.

Vitacura is home to several well-known schools, including international ones:
- The main campus of the Lycée Antoine-de-Saint-Exupéry de Santiago, which is a French international school.
- The Deutsche Schule Santiago (also known as Colegio Alemán de Santiago) has its Vitacura campus here. This campus teaches students from first to sixth grade.
- Chartwell International School, which is a Preschool and Primary school, is located in the Lo Curro area of Vitacura.
