The First School in Warner
The Warner State School building was finished on April 7, 1876. It was a bit tricky to find a teacher, but the school finally opened in June 1876. By December of that year, 28 students were enrolled! The school celebrated its 50th birthday in 1926. It closed around 1939. The old school was located at what is now 2 Coorparoo Road.
From Farms to Homes: Warner's Growth
For a long time, Warner was mostly rural, meaning it had lots of farms and open land. But recently, it has been changing into an urban area with more homes and businesses.
After the year 2000, new developments started appearing. For example, the Warner Lakes housing estate was built on land that used to be potato farms and a quarry. A quarry is a place where stone or sand is dug out of the ground. Also, a shopping and business area was built at the corner of Samsonvale Road and Old North Road.
Many roads in Warner have been improved, and there are now seven sets of traffic lights to help cars move smoothly. More new places have opened up, like a McDonald's, Subway, KFC, a Chinese restaurant, and The Warner Tavern.
