We Are King (also known as We Are KING) is an American R&B music group. It is made up of twin sisters Amber and Paris Strother. They live in Los Angeles, California. The group was first called King and also included their friend Anita Bias. The Strother sisters are from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their uncle, Percy Strother, was a famous blues musician.

The Story of We Are King

The group started in 2011. On March 1, they released their first music collection, called The Story. It had three songs. This music caught the attention of many famous artists. These included Questlove, Erykah Badu, and Prince.

Prince was very impressed. He invited the sisters to perform with him. They opened for him on his 21-Night Stand Tour in Los Angeles. Prince then became their mentor and helped them with their music career until 2013.

In 2013, King started their own company, King Creative. They released a new song called "In the Meantime." The magazine Billboard showed it first. In 2014, they released another song, "Mister Chameleon."

On February 5, 2016, the group released their first full album. It was called We Are King. Many music critics loved the album. It was even nominated for a Grammy Award. This was a big deal because they were the first independent band to be nominated in that category. The album also appeared on many "best of" lists from magazines like Rolling Stone and Time.
