Wild Bank is a cool hill located in Stalybridge, England. It sits right next to the famous Peak District National Park. This hill reaches a height of 399 meters (about 1,309 feet) above sea level. It's a great spot to explore and enjoy nature.
Exploring Wild Bank
Wild Bank is part of the Pennines, a range of hills often called the "backbone of England." The western side of the hill rises steeply from the valley of the River Tame. This river flows through the town of Stalybridge.
What You Can See
From the top of Wild Bank, you can see many interesting places. On a clear day, you might spot the city center of Manchester. You can also see Winter Hill and the wide, flat area known as the Cheshire Plain. If the weather is super clear, you might even catch a glimpse of the mountains of Snowdonia in Wales far in the distance!
Accessing the Area
Since 2004, the moorland around Wild Bank has been known as "access land." This means that people are allowed to walk and explore these areas freely. It's a great opportunity for hikers and nature lovers to enjoy the beautiful landscape. The land gently slopes down to areas like Shaw Moor and Hollingworthhall Moor on the eastern side. Beyond these moors are the towns of Mottram in Longdendale and Hollingworth.
