Windows 10 Mobile was a special version of the Microsoft Windows Windows 10 operating system. It was made for phones and small tablet computers. These devices usually had screens 8 inches or smaller. This system worked on devices with ARM or IA-32 processors.
Windows 10 Mobile was designed to work very well with the regular Windows 10 on computers. For example, things like your files and notes could be synced between your phone and computer. Apps made for Windows 10 on PCs, Android, and iOS could also be changed to work on Windows 10 Mobile.
Some high-end phones with Windows 10 Mobile had a cool feature. You could plug your phone into a computer monitor. Then, you could use a mouse and keyboard to make your phone act more like a desktop computer. This was a way to use your phone for bigger tasks.
Getting the Update
Many phones that already had Windows Phone 8.1 could get a free update to Windows 10 Mobile. However, it was up to the phone makers and mobile carriers to offer this update. Also, some features of Windows 10 Mobile were not available on less powerful or older phones.
Its Journey: From Start to Finish
Windows 10 Mobile officially came out on March 17, 2016. This was a bit after Windows 10 for computers, which was released on July 29, 2015.
In October 2017, Microsoft decided to stop actively developing new features for Windows 10 Mobile. This was because not many people were using it. After that, they only provided important security updates. Microsoft completely stopped giving security updates on January 14, 2020. This was the same day they stopped supporting Windows 7.
