The Town of Woodhull is in the southern part of Steuben County. It is located west of the city of Corning.

Discovering Woodhull's Past
The first people to settle in Woodhull arrived around 1804. One of the earliest settlers was Caleb Smith. He built the first three houses in the town.
The town of Woodhull was officially created in 1828. It was formed from parts of two other towns: Troupsburg and Addison. Later, in 1856, a part of Woodhull was used to create the Town of Rathbone.
Woodhull's Location and Landscape
Woodhull covers an area of about 55.4 square miles (143.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a very small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.09 square kilometers), is water.
The southern edge of the town forms the border with Tioga County in Pennsylvania.
New York State Route 417 is an important road that runs through the town. It goes from east to west.

The Town of Woodhull includes several smaller communities and interesting spots:
- Borden – This is a small hamlet located near the eastern border of the town. You can find it on County Road 101.
- East Woodhull – Another hamlet, found east of the main Woodhull hamlet. It is on NY-417 where it meets County Road 81.
- Hedgesville – This hamlet is in the northern part of the town on County Road 102. It is known as one of the oldest communities in Woodhull.
- Tuscarora Creek – This is a stream that flows eastward through the town. It passes by the hamlets of Woodhull and East Woodhull.
- Woodhull – This is the main hamlet of Woodhull. It is located south of NY-417 in the northern part of the town. It used to be an official village from 1899 but stopped being a village in 1987. It is found where County Roads 82, 99, and 129 meet, and it is along Tuscarora Creek.
- Woodhull Raceway – This raceway opened in 1964. It was designed and built by George Williams and his two sons, Jim and Bob.
