What Does Y Garn Look Like?
The mountain has different sides. The south-western side slopes gently downwards. It leads into a valley called Nant Peris. This side is easier to walk on.
The north-eastern side of Y Garn is very different. It has two steep, bowl-shaped valleys. These valleys are called Cwm Clyd and Cwm Cywion. At the bottom of these valleys, you will find Llyn Idwal and Ogwen Cottage. A "cwm" is a Welsh word for a valley shaped like a half-circle, often formed by glaciers.
Mountains Nearby
Along the ridge to the north of Y Garn is another mountain called Elidir Fawr. To the south-east, you can find the top of Twll Du and Glyder Fawr. These mountains are all part of the same beautiful range.
