About Yummy Bingham
Early Life and Family
Yummy Bingham was born on January 7, 1986. Her father, Dinky Bingham, is a well-known R&B music producer. Her mother is Patricia Wyce.
Yummy grew up in South Jamaica, Queens, New York. She was raised by her grandparents. She is also the god-daughter of two famous singers, Chaka Khan and Aaron Hall.
Yummy's Music Journey
Starting with Tha' Rayne
In 2000, when Yummy was just 14 years old, she joined a music group called Tha' Rayne. A music producer named KayGee helped form the group. They signed with Arista Records, a big music company.
Tha' Rayne recorded an album and sang on songs with other artists from their label. One of these songs was "Fabulous" by Jaheim. This song became a huge hit, reaching number one on the US Billboard Adult R&B chart for three weeks in 2003.
The group also released their own single, "Didn't You Know." It reached number 76 on the US Billboard R&B chart in September 2003. Even though they were successful, their first album, "Reign Supreme," was never released. The group eventually broke up in 2005.
Singing with De La Soul and Other Artists
While she was still part of Tha' Rayne, Yummy Bingham also became known for her work with the famous hip-hop group De La Soul. She sang on many of their songs and singles. She also went on tour with them from 2000 to 2004.
Starting in 2003, Yummy began working with many other artists. She helped write songs or provided her vocals for their tracks. Some of the well-known artists she worked with include Talib Kweli, Patti LaBelle, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Nas, and Monica.
Becoming a Young Music Executive
When Yummy Bingham was 18, she achieved something amazing. She became the youngest female CEO of a record label connected to a major music company. She was also the youngest female record executive.
She created her own label called "Muzic Park" with Grammy-winning music producer Rockwilder. Yummy was the first artist signed to her own label. She had record deals with Motown in the United States and Island Records in the United Kingdom.
She released several singles like "Come Get It," "Is It Good To You," and "One More Chance." Her first solo album, The First Seed, was released in the UK in October 2006.
Later Career and New Music
Yummy continued to write and record music for other artists. In September 2007, she welcomed her daughter, Aviela. She took some time away from the mainstream music industry to focus on Gospel and Inspirational music.
However, she returned to R&B music in 2010. She released a new song called "Circles," which was featured in the movie "King of Paper Chasin." Yummy also shared that she was working on acting projects.
In 2013, she started working with alternative R&B producer Nyce Hitz to create new songs. From October to December 2013, Yummy released a series of 10 new songs online called "Taste Tuesdays." Many of these songs were exclusive and did not appear on her mixtape.
On January 7, 2014, she released her 10-track mixtape, "No Artificial Flavorz." It included popular singles like "Cuffin" and "Can We Stay," which featured Kardinal Offishall. In the same year, Yummy was featured on Cam'ron's song "So Bad" alongside Nicki Minaj.
In April 2015, Yummy Bingham released another single called "Hard to Love."
