Yummy Bingham's Music Career
Starting Out in Music
In 2000, when Yummy was just 14 years old, a producer named KayGee asked her to join a music group called Tha' Rayne. The group signed with Arista Records. They recorded an album and sang on songs with other artists. One of their songs, "Fabulous" with Jaheim, became a number one hit on the US Billboard Adult R&B chart in 2003. Tha' Rayne also released a single called "Didn't You Know." Even though their album "Reign Supreme" was never officially released, the group gained attention before they broke up in 2005.
While she was part of Tha' Rayne, Yummy also became a featured singer for the hip-hop group De La Soul. She sang on many of their songs and went on tour with them from 2000 to 2004.
Working as a Songwriter and Singer
Starting in 2003, Yummy began working with many different artists. She helped write songs or provided vocals for famous musicians like Talib Kweli, Patti LaBelle, Lupe Fiasco, Christina Aguilera, Mary J. Blige, and Nas.
When she was 18, Yummy Bingham made history. She became the youngest female CEO of a major record label. She started her own label called "Muzic Park" with Grammy-winning producer Rockwilder. Yummy was the first artist signed to her own label through deals with Motown in the U.S. and Island Records in the UK. She released singles like "Come Get It" and "One More Chance." Her first album, The First Seed, came out in the UK in October 2006.
Later Music and Projects
Yummy continued to write and record music for other artists. In September 2007, she welcomed her daughter, Aviela. She took a break from the mainstream music industry to focus on Gospel and Inspirational music.
In 2010, Yummy returned to R&B music with a new song called "Circles." This song was featured in the movie "King of Paper Chasin." She also announced that she would be working on acting projects.
In 2013, Yummy collaborated with producer Nyce Hitz to create new music. She released a series of 10 unreleased songs called "Taste Tuesdays" online. On January 7, 2014, she released her mixtape "No Artificial Flavorz." This mixtape included singles like "Cuffin" and "Can We Stay," which featured Kardinal Offishall. In the same year, Yummy was featured on Cam'ron's song "So Bad" with Nicki Minaj.
In April 2015, Yummy Bingham released another single called "Hard to Love."
