Ángel Atienza Landeta (born March 16, 1931 – died August 23, 2015) was a talented Spanish person. He was famous for two things: being a professional footballer and a skilled artist. Ángel played as a defender for the famous team Real Madrid. With them, he won the very first European Cup. After his football career, he became well-known for his amazing art, especially his large mosaics and stained glass works.

Ángel Atienza's Football Journey

Ángel Atienza was born in Madrid, the capital city of Spain. He started his professional football career playing for Real Zaragoza. Later, he moved to one of the biggest clubs in the world, Real Madrid. He played for Real Madrid from 1954 to 1959.

During his time at Real Madrid, Ángel was part of a very successful team. He helped them win the top Spanish league, La Liga, three times. Even more impressively, he won the European Cup (now called the Champions League) three times in a row! This was a huge achievement. He stopped playing professional football on July 1, 1960.

Ángel Atienza's Art Career

Even while he was playing football, Ángel Atienza had a secret passion: art! He spent his free time connecting with other artists. He even showed his art in group exhibitions.

In 1958, while traveling in Central Europe, he saw something amazing. It was coloured glass set into concrete. This gave him a big idea for his own art. After he stopped playing football, he started working with other artists. He began creating beautiful mosaic murals and stained glass pieces.

In 1964, he started making ceramic murals too. His first big art project was at the Carlton Rioja Hotel in Logroño, Spain. In 1976, Ángel moved to Venezuela. There, he started using new materials in his murals. He added iron, bronze, and aluminium to his artworks. He often worked closely with architects. This helped make sure his art fit perfectly with the buildings around it. In 2001, he returned to Spain. He continued to create paintings and show his work in exhibitions.
