Éclépens is a small town, also called a municipality, in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is part of the Morges area.

History of Éclépens

Éclépens was first written about in the year 814. Back then, it was known as Sclepedingus.

Geography of Éclépens

Éclépens covers an area of about 5.81 square kilometers (2.24 square miles). A large part of this land, about 52.8%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 26.2% of the area.

Around 20% of the land has buildings or roads on it. A small part, less than 1%, is made up of rivers or lakes. The rest of the land is not used for farming or building.

Most of the built-up areas are for buildings like houses and factories. Roads and transportation also take up some space. The forested land is mostly dense forests. The farming land is used for growing crops and for pastures where animals graze.

Éclépens used to be part of the Cossonay District. But in 2006, it became part of the new Morges District.
