Valencia Becomes Independent
- 1021 – The city of Valencia, which is in modern-day Spain, became an independent state. It was called a taifa, which means a small kingdom. Before this, it had been ruled by soldiers from Slavic lands for about ten years.
The Salian Dynasty Begins
- 1024 – A new ruling family, known as the Salian Dynasty, was started in the Holy Roman Empire. This empire was a large group of lands in Central Europe. Conrad II was the person who founded this important dynasty.
