Battles and Leaders
- On July 2, a big fight called the Battle of Göllheim happened in Germany. This battle was between two powerful leaders: Albert I of Habsburg and Adolf of Nassau-Weilburg. Adolf of Nassau-Weilburg sadly died in this battle.
- Later that month, on July 22, the famous Battle of Falkirk took place in Scotland. King Edward I of England led his army to victory against the Scottish army. The Scottish forces were led by the well-known hero, William Wallace. A Scottish soldier named Sir John de Graham also died in this battle.
Changes in Japan
- In Japan, the reign of Emperor Fushimi came to an end.
- Soon after, a new emperor, Emperor Go-Fushimi, took the throne of Japan.
Amazing Inventions and Stories
- While he was in prison in Genoa, the famous explorer Marco Polo started to tell his incredible stories. He dictated his adventures, which later became the book The Travels of Marco Polo. This book shared amazing details about his journeys to faraway lands.
- A fire caused a lot of damage to the historic Palace of Westminster in England.
- In China, a government official named Wang Zhen (official) made an important invention. He created wooden movable type for printing. This was a big step forward, as it allowed people to print books and documents much faster. Before this, in the 11th century, another inventor named Bi Sheng had invented ceramic movable type.
