What Happened in the 1370s?
Powerful Leaders and New States
During the 1370s, a strong military leader named Mamai was very important. He was a commander of the Golden Horde. The Golden Horde was a large group of nomadic people who lived in a vast area. Mamai lived in the western part of their lands. This area is now the southern part of Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula.
Mamai was so powerful that he tried to break away from the main leaders, called Khans, of the Golden Horde. He wanted to create his own independent state. This shows how leaders sometimes tried to gain more power and control during this period.
People Moving to New Homes
Another important event in the 1370s was the movement of a group of people called the Krashovani. They had to leave their homes in Serbia. This happened because the Ottoman forces were attacking their area.
To find safety, the Krashovani moved to a region called the Banat. This area is now split between modern-day Romania, Serbia, and Hungary. Their journey shows how conflicts and wars can cause people to leave their homes and find new places to live.
