Big Changes in the Roman Empire
- May 11 – A very important event happened! Emperor Constantine the Great officially made a new city the capital of the Roman Empire. This city was called Constantinople, or Nova Roma (which means "New Rome"). Today, we know it as Istanbul in Turkey.
- Constantine spent four years building this amazing city. He chose the spot because it was perfect! It was a seaport, making it easy to travel by ship. It also had good access to places like Anatolia and the Danube River.
- Around this time, a group of people called the Goths caused trouble. They badly damaged a city called Tanais, which was located near the Don River delta.

- In Africa, Ezana, who was the king of Axum, made his kingdom much bigger. He won battles against a group called the Nobates. He also completely destroyed the kingdom of Meroë, which was a powerful ancient kingdom.

- Frumentius became the very first bishop of Ethiopia. A bishop is a high-ranking leader in the Christian church. This happened around this time.
