Persian Empire
In the powerful Persian Empire, a new king took the throne. Artaxerxes III became the ruler, following his father, Artaxerxes II. To make sure his power was strong, he made sure no one else could challenge him.
Greece
In Thessaly, a region in Greece, the ruler of Pherae, Alexander of Pherae, was killed. This happened because his wife asked her brother to do it.
Also in Greece, the land of the Thracian king, Cotys I, was divided. His land was given to his sons, Cersobleptes, Amadocus II, and Berisades.
Macedonia
Philip II of Macedon, the king of Macedonia, led his army to fight against the hill tribes of Paeonia. He won the battle, which helped him expand his kingdom. His rule then reached far inland, all the way to Lake Ohrid.
Roman Republic
The Romans were also busy expanding their territory. They fought against the Volsci people and won. After their victory, the Romans took much of the Volsci's land. They then sent Roman citizens to live there, creating new settlements called colonies.
