AD 8 was a year that started on a Sunday, according to the Julian calendar. In the powerful Roman Empire, people knew it as the "Year of the Consulship of Camillus and Quinctilianus." This was because Marcus Furius Camillus and Sextus Nonius Quinctilianus were the top elected officials, called consuls, for that year. The name "AD 8" became common much later, during the Middle Ages, as a way to count years from the birth of Jesus.
