Alden Caleb Ehrenreich (born November 22, 1989) is an American actor. He started acting in TV shows like Supernatural in 2005. He also appeared in movies by director Francis Ford Coppola, such as Tetro (2009) and Twixt (2011).
After playing smaller roles in films like Blue Jasmine and Stoker in 2013, he became well-known. This happened when he starred in the comedy Hail, Caesar! (2016) by the Coen brothers. People really liked his performance in that movie. Ehrenreich is also famous for playing a young Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). He also starred in the TV series Brave New World in 2020.

Early Life and Education
Alden Ehrenreich was born in Los Angeles, California. He is the only child of Sari, an interior designer, and Mark Ehrenreich, an accountant. He was named after a family friend, director Phil Alden Robinson. Alden grew up in a Jewish family. His family came from countries like Austria, Hungary, Russia, and Poland.
Alden started acting when he was in elementary school. He continued acting at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California. After high school, he went to New York University. He studied acting at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. However, he did not finish his degree there. In 2009, he helped start a group called "The Collectin." This group was made up of actors, writers, and directors in New York City. They worked together to create films and theater shows.
Acting Career Highlights
Alden Ehrenreich was discovered by famous director Steven Spielberg. This happened at a friend's bat mitzvah party. Spielberg saw a funny video that Alden and a friend had made. Alden described his part in the video as "running around as a skinny little punk, trying on girls' clothes and eating dirt." After this, DreamWorks, a studio that Spielberg helped create, contacted him. He then met with their casting director.
Meeting Steven Spielberg led to Alden getting roles in TV shows. These included Supernatural and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2007, he got a big role in Francis Ford Coppola's film Tetro. For his audition, Coppola asked him to read from the book The Catcher in the Rye. The movie came out in 2009 and critics praised Alden's acting. Later, in 2011, he had a small part in Coppola's next film, Twixt. He also appeared in a commercial with actress Natalie Portman.
In 2013, Alden starred as Ethan Wate in Beautiful Creatures. This movie was based on a popular novel. He also played Whip Taylor in the thriller film Stoker. That same year, he was in the drama Blue Jasmine with Cate Blanchett.
A big moment in his career was in 2016. He co-starred as Hobie Doyle in the Coen brothers' movie Hail, Caesar!. He acted alongside famous stars like Josh Brolin and George Clooney. Many critics especially praised Alden's performance. In the same year, he played the main role of Frank Forbes in Rules Don't Apply. He then starred in The Yellow Birds, which was shown at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
Ehrenreich took on the iconic role of a young Han Solo in the Star Wars movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). This film showed Han Solo's life before the original Star Wars movie from 1977. He also led the TV series Brave New World in 2020. This show was based on a famous book by Aldous Huxley.
More recently, in 2024, he joined the cast of the horror thriller film Weapons, which is set to be released in 2026. He is also set to film Switzerland with Helen Mirren later in 2024.
