This special shop is owned by the community itself. It sells food, has a small café, and also offers Post Office services. It's run by a manager and many helpful volunteers.

A Look at Alfrick's Past

Alfrick has a long history. It was once part of an older administrative area called Doddingtree Hundred.

Back in the 1800s, there were laws about helping people who were poor. After a new law in 1834, Alfrick Parish no longer had to take care of its poor residents directly. This job was moved to a larger group called the Martley Poor Law Union.

The village used to have a pub called The Swan right in its center. It was a popular spot until around the year 2000.

The Village Church

The village church is named after Saint Mary Magdalene. It has some interesting features, like original sandstone around its windows. Inside, you can see beautiful Dutch stained glass and the wooden roof beams. On the outside of the church tower, there is a sundial that tells time using the sun.
