Legendary Pokémon facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Legendary Pokémon are super rare and powerful Pokémon in the Pokémon world. People in the games often say that very few trainers have ever seen them! They are much harder to catch than regular Pokémon and have special powers.

In the Pokémon games, some Legendary Pokémon wander around different areas, while others stay in one special spot. If you accidentally defeat a Legendary Pokémon in battle, it usually won't appear again, because there's only one of them! Because of this, players often save their game right before trying to catch one.

To catch them, trainers often use a Master Ball (which catches any Pokémon instantly) or an Ultra Ball. But you can even catch a Legendary Pokémon with a normal Poké Ball if you're lucky! A Quick Ball is also a good choice at the very start of a battle, as it has a higher chance of working then. There are about 1,013 different Pokémon in total, and only a small number of them are Legendary.
