Aymeric Laporte is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back (a defender in the middle) for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. He was born in France on May 27, 1994, but now plays for the Spain national team.

Laporte joined Athletic Bilbao in 2010 when he was just 16. He was only the second French-born player to play for the club. He played 222 games for them. In January 2018, he moved to Manchester City. With Manchester City, he helped win many important trophies. This included the "domestic treble" in 2019 (winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup). He also won the "continental treble" in 2023 (winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League).

Laporte played 51 games for France's youth teams. He was called up to the senior French team twice but did not play. In 2021, he became a Spanish citizen. He then joined Spain's squad for UEFA Euro 2020. He also played for Spain in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and helped them win Euro 2024.

Early Life and Football Beginnings

Aymeric Jean Louis Gérard Alphonse Laporte was born in Agen, France. His family has Basque roots. He started playing both football and rugby when he was five years old. He began his football training at Agen's academy.

In 2009, Athletic Bilbao noticed his talent and invited him to join their club. Because he was too young to move outside France, he first spent a season playing for Bayonne.

In 2015, Athletic Bilbao won the 2015 Supercopa de España, their first trophy in 31 years, with Laporte playing a big part.

Moving to Manchester City

In January 2018, Laporte joined Manchester City. The transfer fee was about £57 million, which was a record for both clubs at the time. He was given the number 14 shirt. Just one day after signing, he played his first game for Manchester City in the Premier League. City won 3–0. He helped them achieve a record 100 points in the Premier League that season.

Laporte scored his first goal for City on August 25, 2018. In the 2018–19 season, he played 51 games. Manchester City won the first "domestic treble" in English football history. This meant they won the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup. He scored five goals that season, including an important one on the final day of the Premier League. On August 31, 2019, Laporte got a knee injury and needed surgery.

After returning from his injury, Laporte continued to be an important player. On April 25, 2021, he scored the winning goal in the 2021 EFL Cup Final, helping City win their fourth straight League Cup.
